In the area of Canton Magistris, facing the entrance of the Fondotoce Nature Reserve, you take the trail that connects Fondotoce to Cavandone and ascend to Monterosso along the ancient forest mule track, which offers stunning panoramic views.
You arrive at the village of Cavandone, interesting especially for its examples of rural architecture and the skilled use of stone by its inhabitants, who were largely stonecutters in the past.
Noteworthy is the community oven for bread baking, active since 2016, and the parish church, shaded by a specimen of Taxus baccata at least 500 years old, which features an interesting ossuary chapel covered with inscriptions and frescoes on the theme of death on its side.
Inside the church, visible only during services, is a wooden triptych by Sperindio Cagnoli (16th century).
