The city of Verbania is set against a backdrop of rugged and rocky mountains where, in addition to the impressive Monte Rosa massif at the end of the Anzasca valley, the Val Grande National Park - the largest wilderness area in Italy - now dominates a terrain where wild nature has reclaimed the ecosystem that had previously been modified by human intervention in the last eighty years.
